Co-Extruded Trailing Shields

MAC Plastics specializes in co-extruded rigid and flexible trailing shields for the walk-behind mower industry. These shields or guards mount behind mower decks to help prevent debris from exiting underneath the deck.

Production Footprint

Two Extrusion Facilities

MAC operates extrusion facilities in Southern Illinois and Northeast Indiana, with 20 total extrusion lines and six co-extrusion lines across a little over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space.

Extruded Shapes

Tubing, Profiles, and Multi-Hollow Parts

Capabilities include round tubing from 1/4 inch OD to 12 inch OD, thin wall tubing down to 0.030 inch, thick wall tubing up to 0.500 inch, square tubing, multi-hollow profiles, snap-fit profiles, and custom plastic profiles.

Co-Extrusion

Cap Coated and Rigid/Flex Designs

MAC manufactures co-extruded profiles including cap-coated tubing and rigid/flex/rigid designs for parts that need multiple durometers, surfaces, colors, or performance zones in one extruded component.

Inline Operations

Finished Features During Production

Inline capabilities include punching, cut to length, notching, hole drilling, boring, chamfering, and printing so parts can move closer to ready-to-use condition before they leave the extrusion line.

Secondary Operations

CNC Routing, Packaging, and Assembly

Offline capabilities include CNC routing for specific parts, custom packaging, assembly, and customer-specific handling for repeat production programs.

Design Support

3D Printing for Part Design and Testing

MAC uses 3D printing to assist with part design, fit checks, testing support, and early-stage manufacturing review before moving into production tooling.

Testing

Plastic Testing and Standards Support

Testing support includes ASTM, IAPMO, and other standards; flame testing, pressure testing, Instron testing, impact testing, endurance testing, abrasion testing, and adhesion testing for co-extruded parts.

Production depth

Two facilities. 26 extrusion lines. 100,000+ square feet.

MAC’s capabilities are centered on custom plastic extrusion, co-extruded rigid and flexible parts, tubing, profiles, inline finishing, offline CNC routing, packaging, assembly, testing, and practical design support.
